18 Sep LEDS Light The Way In The Arctic
Manufacturers are increasingly turning to reliable and simple to use Innovec products, especially in the realm of LED Lighting. Here is an example of a client based in Norway employing Innovec safety lighting for the harsh Arctic cold.
CUSTOMER CHALLENGE
Innovec was approached by a prominent train manufacturer for trains that were built in 2004 in Australia about changing the light system to fit their needs. This manufacturer was using Innovec lighting previously, but this required four large holes on the front of the train, for aesthetic and cost-saving reasons, the client asked for a more compact system.
PRODUCT SOLUTION
The Innovec development team decided to combine the red and white marker lights into one system, to make the LEDMLD. This reduced cost dramatically for metal cutting and shrunk the need from 4 separate lights to just two, whilst augmenting the aesthetic of the vehicle for a true modern design to make Innovec proud.
MANUFACTURERS HAVE COME TO RELY ON INNOVEC TO SOLVE ONGOING RELIABILITY PROBLEMS OF LED LIGHTING WHERE ALTERNATIVES FAILED.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
The LEDMLD has been very well received, with no reported failures in over 10 years!
The LEDMLD’s original form was developed in September 2004 for trains in rural NSW which has since been revised numerous times and improved upon. It continues to be sold on a global scale, from Port Augusta, South Australia, through the United States, all the way up to the Arctic Circle through Norway and Sweden. Pictured is the ‘Local Train, Type 92’, a Norwegian State Railways (NSB) train, which travels from Oslo, up the top of Norway, through the Arctic Circle and over to Sweden and Finland. These lights have been very popular and their multi-functionality is an aspect often mentioned by our clients there.
