Manufacturers are increasingly turning to reliable and simple to use Innovec Products. The clever innovation on this occastion is a solution to the safety hazzard of vehicles starting whilst still in the refueling process.
CUSTOMER CHALLENGE
Increasingly Public Transport Bus Operators are using CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) as a clean fuel source for engines as an alternative to diesel but the gas is compressed into the vehicle fuel tanks at either 250 or 350 bars of pressure. Because refueling is done at the bus depot only and the driver stays in the bus during this process they needed to find a solution to prevent the vehicle being inadvertently driven off with the bowser hose still attached. They turned to Innovec to supply a system that would disable the bus engine during filling.

RESULTS ACHIEVED
The Innovec IFI Fuel Safety Interlock was chosen because of fast delivery, no wiring changes were required to the vehicle. We implemented a magnetic circuit in the fuel cap and a plug in module for the engine management system. This created a smooth transition for the vehicle upgrade, with minimal downtime and maintenance costs during the installation.
